I could live on this.

Bavarian Apple Torte (excellent) serves 8 in a pinch

1/2 cup softened margarine (NOT butter)

1/3 cup sugar

1/4 t teaspoon vanilla

1 c flour

1/4 C sugar

1 egg

1/2 t teaspoon vanilla

8oz pkg cream cheese, softened

1/2t teaspoon cinnamon

1/4C sugar

4 cups peeled apple slices, thin

1/4 c sliced almonds

Cream margarine, sugar, and vanilla. Blend in flour

Spread 1/2 to 2/3 of the paste/dough onto bottom of 9 inch springform pan. Bake 12 min at 400 degrees, being careful not to burn it. When completely cooled, use remainder of dough to spread on sides of pan, making a seal between the cooked bottom and the sides. You can omit the prebaking, but the bottom will be soggy.

Combine softened cream cheese and sugar; mix well. Blend in egg and vanilla. Pour into pastry lined pan.

Combine sugar and cinnamon. Toss apples in sugar mixture. Spoon mix over cream cheese layer, sprinkle with sliced almonds

Bake at 450°F, 10 minutes. reduce heat tp 400° continue baking for 25 minutes. Cool well before removing rim.

Excellent upgrade:

Squeeze a ribbon of lemon curd from a squeeze bottle over it...very good/don't overdo it.Subtle addition.
